Every year, unplanned extubation impacts more than 121,000 patients, causes more than 36,000 cases of ventilator-associated pneumonia, leads to more than 33,000 preventable deaths, and adds $4.9 billion in wasteful healthcare costs. Incidents increase with patient restlessness, inadequate sedation, and unclear policies and procedures. Securisyn’s goal is to eliminate preventable extubation death and the costs associated with it, while at the same time giving providers, patients and their loved ones peace of mind.

Working with biomedical engineers in the MedTech Accelerator program, Securisyn tested designs to optimize usability and efficacy. To validate the world’s first fully integrated endotracheal tube securement technology, they collaborated with subject-matter experts, mentors and researchers, and gained valuable insight from users in the healthcare ecosystem.

"It’s been a really powerful experience for us to go through a highly competitive selection process, be one of the very few that was selected, and really feel like rockstars, because we’ve got this unparalleled access."
